What is a movie license?
In order to show a movie to a public audience you must obtain the right from the filmmaker to do so. This right or permission is referred to as a public performance license. Securing a public performance license from the filmmakers and their team is typically very simple. For a small fee you retain the right to show the film on a specific date and time. You may also be able to charge a small ticket fee if you so choose. 

Do I need a movie license aka a public performance license?
If you plan to show a movie in a public setting or to the public, you need a public performance movie license to have the legal right to show the film regardless of the size of your event or whether you are a commercial or nonprofit entity.

What does my license cover? 
Your license allows you to show the licensed content on the specified day to the public or private event you identified for the license. This license may not be transferred to other days, locations or events not previously disclosed to the licensing authority.
